Oh No! She's Mobile.
It's been a long time I know. Bailey is doing well. She has two teeth. She is sorta crawling, she hasn't quite gotten her arms and legs to work in unison yet. But she is able to get around pretty well. So well in fact that she just climbs the three stairs from our family room to our living room. I have pictures but no way to upload them as of yet since my printer died and it had the card reader on it. And I think my laptop's hard drive is about to give up the ghost too. Technology has started to hate me. I hope this is the last thing because my car has died too. All things come in threes and I had my three bad things now I'm hoping I get three good things. I'll upload a picture as soon as I can get it off the card.

See what we have been ranting about.
Important events happening on 2-4-06
Current events that happened while Heather was bringing Bailey into this world:
- Saddam Hussein aims to sue Tony Blair and George W. Bush for crimes against Iraq. (Scotsman)
- Georgia, USA. 17 human rights activists sentenced to prison including one 81 year old retired World War II Veteran for protesting outside Fort Benning military camp. (Scoop, New Zealand)
- Twenty-seven out of 35 countries on the IAEA's Board of Governors vote to refer the nuclear program of Iran to the United Nations Security Council out of concern over Iran's plans to enrich nuclear materials and to refuse IAEA inspection of the process. (BBC)
- A stampede at a sports stadium in Pasig City, Metro Manila, Philippines, kills 73 and injures more than 320, mostly women. Tens of thousands of people had gathered to watch the anniversary presentation of the popular ABS-CBN early afternoon TV gameshow, Wowowee. (BBC) (CNN)
- The Danish, and as a consequence of sharing the same building, the Chilean and Swedish embassies in Damascus, are firebombed by protestors denouncing the publication of what they consider sacriligious cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad. The Norwegian embassy is also burned. (BBC)
Miss Blue Eyes.
At 10:15am on 2-4-06, Bailey Ann Louise Mann broke her way into this world amid a large audience of doctors and nurses. It was a surprise to all involved that after a half hour of pushing, Heather delivered Bailey vaginally because her pushing started out as a way of getting Bailey lower so that she could get an emergency C-Section. You see, when Heather contracted, Bailey's heart rate would drop and wasn't going back up like it was supposed to. Heather wanted to do a vaginal birth but the doctor didn't think we should but when Heather did the couple of pushes to get Bailey lower, she made so much progress that the doctor said he would give Heather an hour to get her out but he didn't even need to give her that much time. 30 minutes later I was cutting the umbilical cord. How I did it is still a shock as my hands were shaking so much.
Unfortunately the next scare came all too quickly as Bailey decided she didn't like this whole breathing on her own thing and stopped. The wonderful medical staff at McKenzie Willamette Hospital quickly convinced her that breathing was a good thing and the scare was over.
We thought that we had a great baby as she didn't cry she just grunted her disapproval at things. Little did we know that crying was a good thing and Heather woke up that first night to find out Bailey had to get the fluid in her lungs pumped out because she wasn't crying it out. I, being the lump on a log that I am when sleeping, found this out the next morning.
But all said and done, we have a little baby girl who came into this world at 20 1/4 inches, 6 lbs. 14 oz., with dark blue eyes, what looks like receding hair line (though everyone tells us not to worry as it will fill in), and unfortunately daddy's bad gas.
Pictures, along with more updates, will be posted as we get them.

This is it.
Heather's water just broke. We are headed to the hospital and having a baby. Of course Bailey would wait until 3 hours before she's induced to come. I don't ever need a paternity test to know she's my daughter. Will keep everyone updated as more info comes in.

The other things.
Unfortunately some of the items we would like to add to our registry aren't available at Target. Heather was able to find a diaper bag for her but I just don't see myself sporting a violet and brown diaper bag that looks like an overgrown purse. Now for the dad on the go like myself the Baby Sherpa diaper backpack in black is the perfect solution. It has won numerous awards and had many features for my active lifestyle.
To make Heather's life a bit more comfortable while breastfeeding and to help Bailey learn to sit up, the award winning Boppy Luxe is the perfect solution. It cradles Bailey while breastfeeding (Heather) or bottle feeding (Dylan) and supports Bailey while she learns to sit up on her own.
As we are quickly learning a stroller isn't the best way of transporting Bailey. We have a sling on our Target registry but we will soon need something for her after she's a newborn. This is where the Baby Bjorn Active comes into play. It allows for carrying Bailey face to face and later face out while providing full support for both Bailey and parents. It also allows for discreet breastfeeding on the go. And for the warmer months which are coming soon, the Baby Bjorn Air provides the same features in a cooler more breathable mesh fabric.

False Alarm
At 5:11 am I woke up to the nurse checking Heather's cervix only to find out that her cervix hadn't phased enough and hadn't dialated any more that the 3 cm it was when we first came in. This is the second false alarm but they said it shoudn't be much longer. Lots of walking in Heather's future. Well, we're going to get some sleep and will update people as Heather's status updates.

This may be it.
Heather is contracting with about five minutes in between. She is getting changed into more comfortable clothes and then we are heading to the hospital. I will be letting people know how to get to the hospital's web site to see a picture of Bailey as soon as I find out. We just got a car seat today so we made it on that. I will be bringing my camcorder, laptop, and cell phone with me so I will try to post as much as possible between helping Heather and doing coach/father things.
