Miss Blue Eyes.

At 10:15am on 2-4-06, Bailey Ann Louise Mann broke her way into this world amid a large audience of doctors and nurses. It was a surprise to all involved that after a half hour of pushing, Heather delivered Bailey vaginally because her pushing started out as a way of getting Bailey lower so that she could get an emergency C-Section. You see, when Heather contracted, Bailey's heart rate would drop and wasn't going back up like it was supposed to. Heather wanted to do a vaginal birth but the doctor didn't think we should but when Heather did the couple of pushes to get Bailey lower, she made so much progress that the doctor said he would give Heather an hour to get her out but he didn't even need to give her that much time. 30 minutes later I was cutting the umbilical cord. How I did it is still a shock as my hands were shaking so much.

Unfortunately the next scare came all too quickly as Bailey decided she didn't like this whole breathing on her own thing and stopped. The wonderful medical staff at McKenzie Willamette Hospital quickly convinced her that breathing was a good thing and the scare was over.

We thought that we had a great baby as she didn't cry she just grunted her disapproval at things. Little did we know that crying was a good thing and Heather woke up that first night to find out Bailey had to get the fluid in her lungs pumped out because she wasn't crying it out. I, being the lump on a log that I am when sleeping, found this out the next morning.

But all said and done, we have a little baby girl who came into this world at 20 1/4 inches, 6 lbs. 14 oz., with dark blue eyes, what looks like receding hair line (though everyone tells us not to worry as it will fill in), and unfortunately daddy's bad gas.

Pictures, along with more updates, will be posted as we get them.
